Underappreciated for its cuisine day in and day out, St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands is more than turquoise waters,  hiking trails, and rums of all stripes. Whether you’re enjoying just-hooked seafood, sipping coffee inspired by the islands or diving into Caribbean fusion, the local joints here have something to please anyone. Here are some of my favorite restaurants and coffee shops that get closest to the spirit of St. John.

Morgan’s Mango

Nestled near Cruz Bay, Morgan’s Mango is a longtime favorite that brings the vibrant flavors of the Caribbean to your plate. Banana Deck
